ABOUT

The Bheemashakti Yoga School was founded in 2005 by Master H.R. Suresh and his full-time student Jonathan Patriarca in Mysore, India. It was there that principles of Ashtanga Pranayama and Swara Yoga were introduced on a larger scale for the first time.

Based on Master Suresh's direct experience and knowledge of Swara Yoga, the Bheemashakti Yoga School began teaching a standardized system of yoga that range from general physical exercises, to deep spiritual practices. Together, Master Suresh and Jonathan maintained a center, popular with both foreign and local students, that provided a consistent place of practice for physical and spiritual transformation.

In 2009, Jonathan returned to the United States and began teaching the Bheemashakti Yoga System in San Diego, California. He quickly built a community of students who understood the unique importance of this system. In the setting of American culture, the BYS began to evolve in a way that made yoga accessible to a new audience of western students.

Jonathan passed away October 26th, 2014, leaving behind a legacy. The Bheemashakti Yoga School has since been inherited by two of his students, Angela Patriarca and Troy Munsey. In December of 2016 they received the privilege to study directly under Master Suresh in Mysore, Karnataka, India. As devoted students and experienced teachers, Angela and Troy commit to maintaining the integrity and growth of their gurus' teachings in the west. The duo continue to offer trainings and workshops across the U.S., India and Europe.
